A Case of Mistaken Identity
March 2, 2009 on 12:03 pm | In Family, pictures, Food | 3 Comments[This is where I frustratingly drone on and on about why it has taken me such a long time to post anything and especially pictures because my computer is masquerading as a very large paperweight. There are no internet vibes going to it. Nada. If you are reading this, that means that my personal network administrator has finally fixed my internet problem (He did, “Yay, him!!”) and I have posted this blog post along with the required pictures. I would never post a post like this without pictures. I promise!]
For Mark’s birthday a few weeks ago, I decided to be a good little wifey and make him a carrot cake from scratch. Because, you know…I had nothing better to do. HA! He loves carrot cake (which I don’t get because…hello? Vegetables in cake? None for me, thanks!) Anyway, I gathered the ingredients for the cake. I began mixing things together when I realized that the dry ingredient mixture didn’t smell right. I wasn’t sure what the deal was until I got a closer look at a pertinent ingredient. Notice anything non-tasty about this picture?
Oh yes, I did. Luckily, I caught it before I mixed in the wet ingredients. And the finished product tasted like….well, carrot cake! Instead of chili. Yay. It was a much happier birthday after that!
You can follow my pictures via my facebook account through this link here. But only if you want to.
Look! A post!!
December 18, 2008 on 10:55 am | In Food | 6 CommentsI am glad this webpage is still breathing, albeit barely. There have been waaaayyyy too many things, events, people, stuff getting in the way of my maintaining any resemblance of a blog these days. Some of it is fluffy and cute and some of it is too heavy and depressing for me to think about. But Christmas is almost here and I’m bound and determined to not blow it off just to speed into 2009. Wow. Even typing that out seems crazy.
Whatever.
I’ve been cooking/baking/making a mess in the kitchen and, of course, I have my camera handy. Not that everything I cook/bake/make a mess with is pretty enough for a picture. Maybe I simply like documenting the fact that I’m doing these things. I don’t know. And maybe no one cares. Maybe no one is still checking this. But I’ll post this anyway. I’m a sucker for attention. Heh.
One of my recent kitchen experiences –
Oh yes, my friends. I did. And it is gluten-free (and, apparently, Luke now knows how to find these words on boxes–a bonus!!)!!
First,
Good ole (NOW!! Gluten-free!) Rice Chex
Second,
Melt chocolate chips, butter, and peanut butter in bowl. Pour over Chex and stir to coat. Put whole mess into big ziptop bag.
Then,
[Here is an imaginary picture of powdered sugar. I guess I forgot to take a real picture. I hate that.]
Toss it all together. This is what you end up with…
(NOTE: I had to delete the picture that was here…the picture itself was getting tons of SPAM! WEIRD!!!)
Yummy!
Here is another shot…miles and miles of this delectable treat.
And don’t wear a dark-colored shirt, because that will always give you away…Just a tip from one who knows!
And Yet Another Food Combination…

And yes, this is raw. I don’t seem to have the cooked version. Probably ate it too quickly to take its picture.
Doesn’t it look as if there is a secret message written in the peanut butter swirls? If I were a spy, this is how all of my communication would be sent. Heh.
