From Lenise….

List 5 Little Things That Bring You Satisfaction or Pleasure
1. Hanging out with 40 other women for 24 hours (with lots of chocolate and no children or husbands)..just got back from a women’s retreat, can you tell?
2. The sweet reception full of hugs and kisses that I received when I came home from #1.
3. A kindergartener that comes home delighted with school (this happened twice last week! Yay!)
4. A blog comment system that works!
5. Catching up on Quicken entries!! (which might include finishing the taxes, but I’m not there yet! Soon enough, soon enough!!)

I’m not sure who to tag (or who appreciates and de-appreciates such things)…feel free to jump in and if you don’t have a blog, leave a comment–you can do that now, you know! (Yay, David!)

“New”-cleus (or nucleus)

February 23, 2006 on 1:44 pm | In General | 5 Comments

So here’s the thing about dishmans.net blogs (except Pop’s. I dunno about his)….
MT….broken
nucleus…working
Therefore, we (at least Dave and I, Peter switched his to WordPress) are going with this new hotsy-totsy thing. Let me know how you like it.

As for me, I like it because I don’t have to do all that htmling to link to someone else’s blog. All I have to do is one click! Yay! What other heights of laziness await me today? On the other hand, the very bad thing is that I think I lost all of my blogroll. Whoops. Oh well. Must fix that.

This is a common test entry which in no way should frighten you into adjusting your monitor. It is merely something with which I find out how well this nucleus thingy works.

Stand by….

Imagine my horror and surprise to find the following item in my daughter’s backpack:

Are we doing evil South Park impressions in kindergarten nowadays?!

Nope. I was informed it was President’s Day and this is Abraham Lincoln. You’re supposed to hold it like this:

Duh. Clearly, I don’t get paid enough.

A Valentine’s Day By-Product

As a means of cleansing my conscience, I offer to you, my heartfelt confession…..

The scene was today in the elementary school parking, at pick-up time for Susanna. The Other Two and I were in the car waiting for Susanna’s release. Lydia’s V-Day party was today (since she didn’t go to school yesterday) and she was happily picking out which piece of her plunder she was going to eat first. Luke’s eyes went from normal baby-sized eyes to BIG HUGEMONGUS sugar junkie eyes when he saw…..the M&Ms. (And what I really mean is he only saw the package. Not the M&Ms IN PERSON. How do they know?) In an uncharacteristic flash of generosity when sugar is on the line, Lydia gave me the M&Ms (”fun size”, whatever!). Luke, witnessing this transaction, felt it was his duty to save me from myself and responded by jumping up and down and crying for the delectible goodies. In an effort to curtail the loud screaming, I quickly ripped open the tiny little package and gave him one. Followed closely by two more. I, bad mother that I am, gave Luke his first taste of full-powered, unadulterated chocolate this afternoon. I have opened the chocolately door of goodness and pushed him right on in. Oh! The horrors of being a mother these days…..especially February 15th when candy is cheap and sugar rushes abound. What’s next? French fries? Oh, wait, that’s already been chronicled here.

Update: I have just thrown raisins and craisins at him and, apparently, he will still eat non-chocolate-dredged edibles. Whew! That’s a relief!

My Husband

Today marks (ha!) the completion of the 33rd year of Mark’s life. Here is a little ditty I wrote to mark, uh, commemorate the occasion…..

M is for Macho, because that is what you are.
A is for Automobile, because you own a car.
R is for Respect, I have a lot for you,
K is for the Kids we have, you love them through and through!

So here is what I’ve written
I hope you like this rhyme
On the occasion of your birthday,
This 33rd time!!

I love you!

I have just a minute to post this, but I thought I would let you know that you can congratulate me (unfortunately, not via comments! Meh!)……my sister has graciously decided to bless me with the honorable title of “aunt” once again. And by “honorable”, of course, I mean “not fake” or “not 4th place and you want to be nice”, but real, honest-to-goodness, aunt-dom. Yay!

We (but mostly “she”. And her husband, of course) expect the little booger to arrive mid-September. Just in time for the Witteman Christmas! Yay!

Let’s see if I can find something picture-ish….hmmmm..

Well, whatever…..
“Yay!” for auntie-ness!!!

New Things I Forgot…

February 1, 2006 on 4:14 pm | In Family, Quotables | Comments Off

You would think when I type an entry (yesterday) I could remember some exciting things. Well, apparently, I can’t. So here are two more updates I should have included yesterday that I just remembered…

1. We sold our truck. It’s gone. And in its place, HEY! A garage floor! That thing took up quite a bit of room, as one would imagine. Unfortunately, that means we only have one vehicle now. It’s not so bad, especially since Mark works from home. It’s only bad because now instead of some of us being late, ALL of us are late. Not that we took separate cars all the time, but life was certainly a lot more convenient with 2 cars. It’s also a lot more expensive! HA!

2. The really exciting news……..Luke said his first real sentence……are you ready? This might be filed under Too Much Information, but here it is:

“I pooped.”

No kidding! Get excited, people! He speaks!! (And possibly, could be ready to learn a new and highly desireable skill!)

Best end this entry now…..
