Pumpkins with Pumpkins

October 23, 2004 on 7:39 pm | In Miscellaneous |

In an aforementioned post, I mentioned that we went to a Roadside Pumpkin Stand. Well, here are the Pumpkins with their finished pumpkins (Note the noses on the wee pumpkins…the girls requested their initials for that specific facial feature):

Immediately after this picture was taken, we took the guts and roasted them and ate them. How barbaric!

  1. Those are perfectly marvelous Pumpkins & the orange things are cute too! They did a great job! You do realize that eating roasted punkin guts constitutes eating a “vegetable”, don’t you?

  2. Where is Luke and HIS pumpkin? I demand that all future pumpkin photos include this progenitor of future Dishmans!

  3. These are WONDERFUL! Thanks for sharing the great pic. May I ask how you “roast the guts” exactly, and do you separate out the seeds, etc, etc?? i’m thinking that even my children might approve eating pumpkin!! thanks, and i hope you enjoyed your roast!

  4. Hey, Mr. (or is it “Mrs.”?) Attorney, Master Luke’s pictures are all over the place. Besides, he can’t sit up by himself or eat the seeds, so this entry is not his style. Go try and sue someone else. Like maybe John Kerry and his Wacky Ketchup Lady.

Hey Trish….When we roast the seeds, we just heat up the ole oven to about 350 or so and spread the seeds out on a cookie sheet. We sprinkle them with salt and stick ‘em in the oven for about 20 minutes or so. Until the seeds loose the shiny-ness and get a little bit darker (not burnt, b/c that tastes bad). Hope this helps a little! Let me know how it comes out!

  5. AIGH!!! I just figured out who “Attorney for L. Abraham Dishman” is!! My apologies to you, Sir! Very clever, I must say!

However, there are no pumpkin pictures of Abey the Baby scheduled for this year.

    Regrettably,

    The Management

  6. Very cute! The initial-for-a-nose idea is very clever. You immediately know whose pumpkin you are looking at.

  7. What cuties! Unfortunately, the four Ps had no luck in successfully roasting their punkin guts nor eating the seeds. Burnt ones do taste yucky!
